If you work outside the home or stay home and are a homemaker, those groceries still need to be bought and you need a plan to save money and time and to be able to provide balanced healthy meals.

First of all, get the weekly grocery ads, which usually come in the newspaper inserts on a certain day of the week, check to see what items are on sale and then get out the cookbooks and menu plan. Then get into the cabinets and the

fridge and see what you have on hand in the kitchen. This is very important because why buy something you don't need and impluse buying in the grocery can cost you more than preplanning and going to the grocery with a list.

Perhaps on your kitchen counter keep a pad and pen so you can be ready to list the things you need. You could even organize it to the rows at your favorite grocery store to be more efficient.

Now check the menus you have planned to see what items are in the home and what items need to be purchased on your next trip to the grocery.

Try to get out early on your grocery shopping day and get there before crowds of people are there, also the meat is usually put out early in the morning, this holds true for produce also. You can get there and buy before having to stand in lines and also before the meat and producc have been picked over.

Be very familiar with the isles of your favorite grocery, know where for example the cereals and vegetables are located, this prevents making a trip across the store looking for a can of green beans. With a little effort you can be really organized and efficient.

Read the labels in the grocery, as by law manufacturers are forced to put nutition labels on the products thus you can tell the calories and fat in all items you are buying and make the healthiest choices.

If you use coupons, get them all together and check to see what's on save then you further save over the sale prices. Stock up if necessary and you can afford the extra expense on your grocery bill.

Try to plan to buy the items you will need until your next trip to the grocery, if weekly, then plan 7 days ahead and be prepared.

Next, eat before you leave home as it's too easy to stop and eat on the way to the grocery, that is added expense that could go to your low grocery bill. With a little time spent on careful planning you will save money, your family will eat healthy and life will actually be easier. Now enjoy.
